SUMMARY:2025 Human Rights Day Celebration
DESCRIPTION:Church Women United remember that “all human beings are born free and equal in dignity and rights.” This has been the message of Church Women United since 1943 and will continue to be one of the pillars that supports and drives the movement. Individuals being honored on Sept. 5 for their work and service in Atlanta communities are Chol Kim and Alfred McCrary. Kim’s witness and service is evidenced with her self-supporting volunteer missionary ministry at Smith State Prison\, 2003-present in Glenville. In this ministry\, Kim does weekly visits providing meals\, leading Bible study\, counseling\, and overseeing band practice. She supports the GED and College Graduation Ceremony\, offers baptism and communion services\, and plans worship service and fellowship several times each year. She plans Christmas worship and fellowship\, providing gifts and meals for the 1600 inmates. Alfred McCrary is the Outreach Director of Faith AME Zion Church\, where his unwavering commitment to eradicating food insecurity reflects the heart of human rights advocacy—ensuring that every individual has access to the necessities of life\, particularly food. Through his leadership\, the Bread of Life Ministry of Faith has become a lifeline to over 100 families each week by providing fresh bread and essential pantry items to those in need. Alfred has developed strategic partnerships with local churches and nonprofit organizations to provide monthly food boxes to senior citizens.

SUMMARY:2025 World Community Day
DESCRIPTION:World Community Day began in 1943 from discussions at a meeting of denominational presidents and executive secretaries asking that a day be set aside in the fall for the study of peace by church women. Although many denominations were printing their own studies on the new world order\, it was determined at this meeting that their unity would be strengthened on one day of united study. \nWorld Community Day continues to emphasize peace but has been broadened to include justice\, a vital partner of peace. The once clear categories of “domestic” and “foreign” were consciously blurred so the global scope of the wide range of problems could be emphasized on World Community Day.
